Cool! Here’s what they say about the book:

“Though it’s aimed at the middle-school set, too-cool patterns (including punky fingerless gloves and a pleated miniskirt) may convince you to pick up a copy of this beginner book for yourself. The author… offers clear instructions and hip Web resources in addition to such extras as info on dyeing yarn with Kool-Aid, forming crochet clubs, and choosing movies to crochet by.”

I’m literally drooling to make the colorwork bag in this magazine. Gotta meet some more deadlines before I get all reckless and start fun projects, though.

“This book will hook you from the moment you see the cover with its vibrant colours, fresh faced models and really cool crocheted items…

The book begins with an Introduction: Why Crochet? In language that will appeal to tweens and teens, the author says why crocheting is an addictive pastime but also warns that it is important to take frequent breaks to stretch your fingers and rotate your wrists. Excellent advice I did not expect to find in this book. Informative hints and tidbits appear throughout this extremely user-friendly manual. Interesting asides such as crocheting for charity, using hoop earrings as stitch markers, how to start a crochet club or host a crocheting party and how to felt yarn all help keep this craft book inspirational.”

The reviewer’s daughter loved the book, and has even made a few projects from it. The review is quite long; I only quoted a small bit of it. Woo hoo!

She’s just published our chat in Crochet Insider. Check it out for all sorts of stuff about Crochet Me, my terrible singing voice, the hotness of crochet right now, and why it’s important to write well.

Amy O’Neill Houck also wrote a great review of Get Hooked (scroll down), in which she describes it as, “the book my young crochet students have been looking for.” Awesome. (Full disclosure: Amy designed an awesome tie-front vest for Chain Reaction, but that’s no reason for her to like Get Hooked so much, right?)
